An infantry general like macmahon or Lee would be good. Macmahon is better in the long run due to history mode, but Lee is overall stronger battle wise. An Artillery general like Ivanov is also good. Not much else really, normal campaigns are easy, and you don't need a lot of generals. Just max out Jackson, Beseler and your infantry generals. I'd say get macmahon then Ivanov.

Borovic is good, but it will be rather expensive to get him where you want, so you might as well get Lee if you want Borovic, unless you don't want to grind. Ivanov is better than Beseler damage-wise, so consider getting him. Cavalry isn't a problem. Navy is only really needed at the Bulgarian Campaign. |

Your choice. I would say MacMahon, Ivanov will be useful only at Chapter 3, and medals are quickly obtained this early. |

But should i get Ivanov first or MacMahon? Doesn't matter much. I got Beseler first before Lee(my first infantry gen). Then i got Ivanov afterwards, then Straubenburg. Pick whoever you want, Stonewall is enough to hold the frontline, and other freebie generals can also do. Infantry is probably the more efficient option, but i went for artillery gens more and i didn't have much problem, so make your pick. Artillery does make you less reliant on blast to take out cities, so that's a bonus for Artillery. |
