Hello all!
Before I make any rash decisions, I figured I would come in here and ask yβall whether or not you guys sell campaign stars for medals. I hear theyβre not worth upgrading your army so you might as well just sell them for the metals right? I have Isabella with five trading stars now so I can get 4 medals for each one instead of 3.

I think the medals are more useful for buying items and trainers. The upgrades are only scenario specific.

Yep, you can do that. Getting 4 medals per star is great deal I'd say. Missions can be passed without upgrading your units and medals give more bang to the bucks.

Yes. The upgrades you can buy for them are specific to a single scenario battle only - basically they're a one-shot deal - and they are better turned into medals. The other reassurance that needs to be given here, for any subsequent newbies who read this (especially with regard to accumulating the resources to get princesses), is that BUYING AND SELLING THESE STARS DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR CAMPAIGN PROGRESS.

Just to be correct: there some campaigns where you maybe want to unlock some units that otherwise you can't build (not in IE and coalition).
Upgrades are only for the specific campaign (all missions).
Upgrading makes only some sence for units you spam - not for units you put generals on.
Upgrades work only for units you build during a campaign mission, not for the units at start.
Starting a new campaign with 15β as reserve, in case you need them, is not a bad idea.
... Having a 5β trader is a great advantage ...

Upgrades are only for the specific campaign (all missions). Wait a minute, I thought they were just for that mission. If they're for the whole campaign, that's a very different kettle of fish.

In IE and Col you don't have the ressources to build the top units, but you get them at start, so this two campaigns don't need any unlock anything. Same for HRE. But for Eastern, America and SnS you want to unlock Guards (4β) - for shure. For America even Heavy artillery (4β) are recommended and maybe Frigattes (5β) and Heavy Cavalary (3β) are useful.

I upgraded militia at the start of my American campaign this time because I knew I would be spamming them a lot. They already build with 2 chevrons so after using stars they came with 3 (-6 damage). I have found it helpfulοΌespecially because many missions have markets and a 5 star trader.

Apart unlocking units that you want to build, is Militia the only unit, where upgrading can be reasonable. -6 Dmg for every fight is a lot. For a unit with initial health of 60 this means practical at least one round more that the militia will stand; and, you will be even able to profit from this upgrade, because these are the units we primary build during the campaign.
