You need to get 6 key plots while killing 7 key units while finishing all within 16 rounds. Its the most effective way of getting 3 stars. I just got 2 stars because i got excited and took the last objective before getting aetius (which is killable at that moment.) green - initial advance / blue - advance after taking Mediolanum , dashed line - optional attack in case Atilla scwewed up / black - defense lines / yellow - allied advance / red - enemy to take note + enemy route monsters used : goblin, mammoth, teracotta
Put all your best generals in all the units, then take the city west of you and take down the roman general, and leave one general (recommended: heavy inf) to defend. meanwhile, make your two other generals take aqueia, supporting the huns general. You need to take the city so you can have more economy and replenish units. Then all your generals (except the defending one; optional: leave one general there incase attila fails to take the roman illyria cities) take mediolanum and take down all the generals attacking you. Use your woad raiders to deal a lot of damage against those javelin generals, for example my pompey dealt ~400-600 dmg against them. Aetius and the roman units will come after you so you better defend and kill the generals, but make atleast some units continue the attack and take ravenna and genua to help the hun general attacking it and complete the mission. Dont worry about the other two objectives, Attila and his army will take care of it. And remember to keep an eye to all objectives, as you might miss one of them.
Afterwards go ahead to the next campaign, The Last Roman.

So you don't actively hunt Aetius down, but wait for him to come to you after Mediolanum falls?
Huh. Defeating the enemy in detail will weaken them more easily, but one risks overrunning the 16-turn limit. However, attacking them head-on, allowing for a pincer attack to unfold and to waste their manpower through a stiff defence and attrition may be a favourable risk.

Well you can also rush to aetius once you kill the other generals. If you can get them earlier then yeah you can focus attack him with your woads then attack Ravenna. what i did is to attack the generals while getting the cities, thats why i forgot to kill aetius first before getting the last objective. Either way, perfect clear is still possible.

There are a lot of enemy generals ahead with 7. There's pretty much 1 enemy General at each of the cities ahead. Aetius and his troops looked like they were going for my northern city but after I took Mediolanum, his forces went south towards Mediolanum. My allies behavior was questionable. They took Salona but they left it empty and didn't kill the roman infantry left. The roman infantry retook Salona. Furthermore Atilla and some horse units just stayed on the coast and didnt move until the last turns. Other allied troops retook Salona. This happened a 2nd a time. For me attila came back to get tarsatica. Its a bit better if u also took aquileia for better income but as long as u can make use of the woad raiders its a good run overall.
