Get Nobunaga, he's the most useful general in the game. As for the strategy, focus on the north first, then return south. Leave a general in the north to defend. Try to spam some artillery units in the initial buildings.

Whoops, sorry, I forgot that Nobunaga becomes available only in empire age. Get Attila, then. And get Saladin from Medina when you reach the necessary player level.
Also, try to weaken the units on the other side of the mountains to the north of your starting position with your archers. When I did this mission I couldn't get three stars the first time, I had to redo it later.

Some longbows are useful, yes, and also keep Cleopatra in the south, ready to attack the towers wen your main force returns from the northern objective. Richard is a good general, though I have never used him. I fear netherfreek is no longer active on the forum |
