Remember when you were playing WC4 for the first time, and breezing though the Allied campaigns (screw you Wesurubung), only for you to find out that Guderian (the best general) costs 2935 medals? And you were making 30 medals per campaign?
Well fear no more! With new ET games, grinding has become a lot less painful.
I will be analyzing ET games with Cloud on PC (because the are the games I play), seeing how long it would take to grind up a stuck account at 0 medals only via daily events.
GCR -
With all uniforms, Han DB grinding, and 8 daily missions (giving 5 medals each, 1 refresh), you would get a grand total of 195 medals. Octavian (the most expensive general) costs 645 medals. It would take 4 days to grind for Octavian with this daily income.
A brand new account would have 1 mission (look above) and grind Punic War DB, for a total of 40 medals. Getting Octavian with a new account would take 17 days.
EW5 -
With 10 missions worth 20 medals, happening 2 times a day, along with 40 medals per trial (there are 3 trials daily), and 50 medals a day from princesses, you get 690 medals. The most expensive general is Heihachiro at 3500 medals. It would take 6 days to get him with this account.
A new account reasonably could have 5 missions worth 10 medals happening 2 times a day and 20 medals per trial (see above), 160 medals daily. It would take 22 days to get Heihachiro.
EW6: 1804 -
With 5 missions worth 7 medals twice daily, you get 70 medals daily. Getting Bismarck the most expensive general (2370 medals) would take 34 days.
A new account could get 5 missions daily worth 4 medals for 40 medals daily. Getting Bismarck with this would take 60 days.
EW6: 1914 -
With 3 missions worth 3 medals cycling twice daily and the 10 medals free package along with 8 princess medals you get 36 medals daily. Getting Lee, the most expensive general, costing 780 medals, would take 22 days.
A new account would get 3 missions worth 2 medals cycling twice daily along with the 10 medals free package is 22 medals. It would take 36 days to get Lee with this.
WC4 -
An experienced player could get 7 invasions worth around 10 medals, twice daily (70 medals a day). Guderian (the best WC4 general and the most expensive at a whopping 2935 medals) grinding would take 42 days.
A brand new player can get 3 invasions worth 5 medals, twice daily for 30 medals a day. Grinding for Guderian would take 98 days.
GOG3 -
If you are F2P, you will get 105 medals a week at a fixed rate, no matter if you are experienced or brand new. Guderian costs 1020 medals, and grinding would take 10 weeks, or 70 days.
How long would it take to get the most expensive general as a new player?
Probably the most useful ranking here, if you want minimal grinding, get #1. If you want a slow and steady gaming experience with lots of grinding, get #6.
1. GCR - 17 Days
2. EW5 - 22 Days
3. EW6: 1914 - 36 Days
4. EW6: 1804 - 60 days
5. GOG3 - 70 Days
6. WC4 - 98 Days
So what do we see here? GCR will be the easiest game here, take it from me: I dropped the game before the Belisarius update for like 6 months with no grinding. I had 3 generals then. In less than a month, I have gotten 6 more elite generals. Yeah, GCR is great!
On the other hand, WC4 has taken me almost a year to get even 4 top tier generals and I have basically given up, because I can get 58 medals daily, and I would need 43 days to get my next general. I'll get to it later, don't worry.
How long would it take to get the most expensive general as an experienced player?
Not so useful, but if you are at end-game, this is the ranking for you.
1. GCR - 4 Days
2. EW5 - 6 Days
3. EW6: 1914 - 22 Days
4. EW6: 1804 - 34 Days
5. WC4 - 42 Days
6. GOG3 - 70 Days
GCR is clearly the winner here, and along with EW5, it takes under 1 week to get the most expensive general if experienced. That's fast! GOG3 players, fear not! After Guderian and Rommel, the high price drops off. WC4 players, you aren't so lucky, unless you consider making infantry generals and budget generals a core.
Overall Rankings -
Here, I'll average the days. Mid-game players, here's your ranking:
1. GCR - 11 Days
2. EW5 - 14 Days
3. EW6: 1914 - 29 Days
4. EW6: 1804 - 47 Days
5/6. WC4/GOG3 - 70 Days
Too Long Didn't Read:
GCR is not grindy, EW5 is a tad bit grindy, EW6: 1914 is moderately grindy, EW6: 1804 is moderately grindy, GOG3 is very grindy, and WC4 is an EXTREMELY grindy game.
