Interestingly, the East Francia AI either plays poorly, the West Slavs AI play well or both. If East Francia's Rhine theatre collapses, the West Slavs will survive with Poznan alone. Plus, if the West Slavs hold out, they can regenerate gens like all AIs do. "The enemy of the enemy is my friend" works here if you want to undermine East Francia quite severely.
Another here thinks Hamburg should not be taken? If Hamburg falls, there's a chance the Danes will effectively rampage throughout East Francia. Curious you say that East Francia Ai is bad. Because they can End Middle Francia and Denmark alone (Middle Francia normally enters in war with West Francia but there isn’t almost any change because West Francia have most of his Units in Brittany or Wessex.) |

Actually, I'd like to partially retract what I had said.
East Francia can take on the West Slavs and handle Denmark and the Vikings who remain at the same time. Played as Northumbria and the Vikings and Danes almost completely went after me while the one-third that remained were slowly mopped up by East Francia. East Francia took over Denmark itself.
However, if you get to them early enough, East Francia will start to struggle. The AIs tend to move almost their entire army in the direction of the most threatening enemy.
As the West Slavs, holding out until a war between Middle and East Francia erupts is ideal for your survival.
