Ah I see. I prefer leaving him to the U.S. navy and sending Govorov elsewhere. After killing Xu my Govorov didn't have much to do anyway. The rest are up to the MIs and the nukes. That's interesting, I thought you sent Govorov to Bangkok and Egypt. Wouldn't MI struggle at Moscow if a super tank spawned there?

The only thing ever spawned in Moscow was an armored car. Even if a super tank is spawn, just leave it to the land forts. I always use them to deal with Thimayya in 1950.

In my successful runs, Moscow greeted me with armored car once, rocket arty once, and super tank twice respectively. Land forts are risky since USSR tends to randomly drop large amounts of paratroopers. I believe it is faster to just take Moscow with your army instead. Using land forts to deal with Thimayya... sounds interesting. I might try that.

I didn't bother retrying it because to me there are better options either for completing 1 star 1950 or for farming. Using land forts is a pretty simple tactic against neutrals or undefended enemies. Some notable examples would be stealing the Soviet cities with Finland 1939 or taking the neutral cities in WW2 Middle East. It takes time but if they hit like FAs once they are built. In 1950, the most common case is Thimayya, although I did try using them against Bock. If you are playing as a minor WTO country, you can even put your hands on Dumitrescu with them. 1960, Khabarovsk.

I do use the land forts tactic often in 1939, but in the case of Thimayya I was reluctant, since he is tough and will destroy the forts (reminds me of 1939 Iran). And land forts are rather costly, so I just deal with him using a rocket arty gen.

I probably built like 8 or 9 to take him out, that's around 700 gold, not that expensive for me since I rather not let my artillery generals stop for too long. When I played a 1950 conquest it's usually a European country, and PMIing a squad and using land forts to take out Thimayya is obviously faster than moving Govorov all the way from somewhere around Budapest.

Well it's good for European countries since they usually have a good income, but in the case of ROC 1950 that's a bit too expensive. I used to build 4 rocket artilleries to take out Thimayya when I play as a European country.
