So I was looking at the stats of various units and comparing them, and I noticed 2 stats that I didn't understand. Charge and Counter both give a chance to deal damage to "back row enemies" when attacking/counter-attacking. However, I don't know what back row enemies are. So, could someone please help me out? Thanks!

My theory is that back row enemies are the 2nd and 3rd stacks of troops. But then in this case, how does hitting them help? Does the damage spread out half and half or do you do double damage?

Ye. It’s full damage to the guys in the back. So they get hit just as hard as the first unit. This is the most powerful damage increase in the game. Charge is much better than counter as it’s on player phase so you can control what you hit, and the units that have charge tends to be much stronger offensively too.

Also, do you know if charge stacks? Like if I have 2 units that both have 20%, does it stack to 40%?

But that’s not how charge works. Every induvidual unit that has charge can trigger it. It doesn’t trigger for the entire group. So if you have two people with 20% charge you can either have just one of them charge (32% chance) or both (4%). Obviously both charging does more damage.

Another question, do ranged calvary count as ranged or as calvary or do you get both boosts with the general?

Some gens have skills like damage boost for Cavalry in general, not specified melee, charge or ranged. Does this boost cover ranged as well? Same for infantry. Are these skills applicable for ranged infantry/cavalry?

I noticed only that Stilicho, for example, is quite good at commanding mounted skirmishers and his cavalry talents are almost nonexistent.

Ranged Infantry fall under range and not infantry, same for Ranged Cavalry.
