I just downloaded EW4 on by iPad again. I previously had it on my tablet but lost all my progress when the tablet stoped working (I also lost all my glory of generals progress 3 times 2 of which I had gotten to Eastern Front without paying). When I had EW4 before I had I think 2 generals Augreau and I forget who the other one was. Now that I had restared I am unsure who to buy and dont understand the refresh thing down the bottom with the generals.
I also have no idea what (I assume they are Generals) the princess are or how to get them. So far I have 676 medals (I havent spent them on anything) and have finsihed the first 3 coalition campgains with great victory and the first 3 French campagin all on perfect.

Since you already have experience in EW4, I suggest you play conquests in order to get princesses as you starter generals. Princesses are a kind of trophy from finishing conquest quickly and they can serve you as your generals. The first 4 (Sophia, Maria, Fatima, and Kate) are not too difficult to get and they are good at least until mid game (Sophia and Kate can be you end game generals). For more info and how to get princesses, read here: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/20/where-princess-free-generals-updated

Try 1798 HRE and 1775 US. You should be able to get Sophia, Fatimah, Maria and Kate.
Some great starting medal generals:
Tier 1: Artillery: Kutaisov. Cavalry: Dumouriez, Diez. Infantry(in case you want, not very recommended): Zakrevsky. Economy: Arnold(can be used for infantry also). Tier 2: Artillery: Scharnhorst. Cavalry: Sulkowski, Raevsky(if you are s&l player).

And Kosciusko for Tier 2 Econ, don't forget him! He's the best Econ for s/L if you Itemize him m Also: Sophia and Fatimah can be gotten in France 98 with a meh Cav General (Ret. Bae Sebastiani). It's easy and fun. I'll do a guide soon, I promise.

And I'm thinking about making a new generals analysis. Some are obviously under/overrated.

If you're lucky enough, get golytsin in the start as well (if you can farm that much)
I got the game again and I have no generals but ~700 medals and I'm going straight for golytsin in this run

Come to think of it, Berthier can be a first general. He has the stars to put him on Art initially, and once you get Agha once or twice, he will be fit for cav to get Sophia in France 1798

And Berthier is second tier so I'm sure he costs ~700 plus Agha twice is 800. For 1500 I think that getting Golitsyn or Ney would be better starters than Berthier and you'll have about 600 medals saved. Golitsyn can get Sophia

How do I refresh the generals list? And is thier a guide for getting princess in HRE without items/generals? 1. Killing units fills up the thing in HQ until it has a circle with arrows. Go to HQ, click in the general tier you want to reload, and hit the circle thing 2. Don't. You need at least one general to get a princess. France 1798 with a meh Cav general (I had Sebastiani, 3* with Surprise) is the best place for the early princesses

Now, these comments make me wanna do a fresh start for EW4 again. Well, I need to wait till I forget most of the campaign details so that I can feel the thrill again.

I have been playing Europe 1798 as the UK without generals just to get some medals and so I can refresh the thingy in the academy so I can buy a good general and I killed an Ottoman I think heavy cavalry while it was embarked near Naples with Nelson and I had a speach thing pop up with Nelson saying "It seems we will be able to gain more prizes at the end of war" What does this mean/do?
