What do you think of this innate skill of infantries? - it can damage back row (like charge and shoot skills) non-archers enemies if they attacked you. Can trigger multiple times. - counter infantries have more chance to trigger it than their melee counterpart, the bond that gives bonus is FTP 'friendly', needs investment though to upgrade general ranks. Swiss halberdiers have the highest chance. - it supplements the active skill Formation.

At the beginning counter infantry seems to be weak, but with leveling up counter infantry gains more than melee infantry units, imo. And counter infantry is better suited for mixed legions than melee infantry.

The main purpose using Counter Inf is to counter Cav. They have chance to counter damage back rows units, and reduce enemy’s charge chance. I find out that there’re 2 situations they shine: mix with two Archers under an archer gen (best defensive legion), and mix with 2 Charge Cavs under a cav gen (best defensive attacking legion)
Otherwise, I think they’re too weak in attacking compare to other units, and defending is not a good way in ET games.

They're like offensive-defense, like a shield Put 2 counterinf + 1 other thing to block enemy units while your generals take out the enemy 1 by one so that they're not attacked into oblivion. You can use any unit as cannon fodder but counter infantry + archer infantry do it best They don't have to be your main units in order to be useful
