Take out the Anglo-Saxons entirely. You need Britain as a strategic economic asset.
Within the first few turns, invest in policies that increase diplomatic speed, reduces diplomatic deterioration and improve diplomatic relations. I swapped the Frankish leader out for Theodora with all her skills. This enables you to befriend far away states, especially the Ostrogoth Kingdom and Bretons. Plus, it prevents relations with the Salian Franks and/or Alemanni from falling further.
The Salian Franks might get gobbled up facing Western Rome, Burgundy, Anglo-Saxons and you. This should open up their NW city and possibly Cologne. Prepare to declare war if this happens.
Stand and hold out against the entire Hun army. I'd spam melee cav, melee inf and archers / ranged cav to guard against 3X ranged cav units. Hamburg-Bremen is a good salient and the cities can support each other. Erfurt-Frankfurt requires you to hold Erfurt and wipe out troops that breakthrough at Frankfurt. If Erfurt falls, hold out at Frankfurt. Utretcht-Cologne is a good line to deploy troops that passed Bremen, but weren't in range of the Frankfurt garrison.
A possible breakthrough can be achieved at Hamburg. When the black storm weakens, send two to three units to the NE end of the map, most likely by moving through the sea. Attack the Hun territories from here. When Hamburg-Bremen clears, this opens up Bradenburg.
As for dealing with Gaul, react accordingly.
You don't need to fulfil the basic victory requirements to achieve hegemony.
