2 additional military ability points = 1 additional attack point
I'ld suggest to improve strong sides of Your generals, as further increase of the attack ability is modified by skills of the general and skills of units in its turn are modified by attack ability of the general. So it is kinda double benefit.
I don't think that trying to negate weaker sides of the general is better strategy.

If you have the possibility to bulk some bit your generals it's not that bad. For example, as a f2p player (even if I've bought Salah ud Din, because I still use my other gens) I will probably give Otto's crown to Harald Hardrada so that I will have a twin for my Cnut.

Charles martel is a monster with lvl 15 Templars. 100% charge chance, can delete any group without counter infantry.

Nope bro. I'm on lvl12 Noble Cavalry. In the end there's no much sifference between a lvl 12 Templar and a lvl12 NC unit on Simeon thanks to outburst and the little max damage differential between the 2 mercenaries (246 vs 245).

You guys are getting templars? Yeah, I bought all of the IAPs except for Matilda and those beyond Robyn Hoode. Nah multiplayer won't be fun. I would have to go against whales or grinders with like 20 maxed lvl units. |

The last testings are made on a presumably "trash" hero who is otherwise pretty fierce: Baibars. As usual the battles are settled in chapter 3, stage 2, hard mode of Cnut's legend. I tried 12 attacks on Baibars and I got 2 single charge, 9 double and 1 triple charge.    Swageon with lvl 6 "Immortality" (just like the one on Baibars) and blue charging cavalry booster.  Alfred with lvl9 unique and gallic horse.  |

Is Baibars even that good compared to Lancelot? I feel like Lancelot is just slightly better because he has the lvl 2 Calvary tactician...
