The 1970s had the most stable balance between music genres (from my view, anyway); there was some rock, some pop, some soul, some metal, some punk, and even some reggae. That, or the passage of time has held up the best albums of each category in equal regard. The 1960s did have The Beatles and The Velvet Underground, though...
