I want to buy badges and upgrade the Way of Honor but keep the ability to get 36 medals from ads without save/loading  |

I would say expeditions, they give you at least 2000 gold, and you don't even have to 3-star, the rewards are the same.
Or you could play conquests.

Every harder expedition gives more gold, Germany gives the most, if I remember correctly 12000, Africa only 3000. |

If you are using a auto clicker app, there is just using it to set a autoclick cycle to autoplay a campaign level. The only level I really trust and tried is the first level in the Punic War main story. I am unsure if there is a better level the autoplay AI can handle.
I don't think its exactly time efficient with the small amount of gold but I find value in just leaving my phone alone for a few hours and allowing the game to farm gold by itself.

Got 8000 gold for a 1 star clear (auto battle, exactly one unit survived with half a stack) of Conquest of Germany.
Edit: using all the summons on the first turn makes it 100% reliable on auto.

Well, you can get atleast around 15,000 gold from tasks daily, without having to grind at all.
