Does the damage bonus for siege engines (rocket against archers, etc.) work in a field battle or only when attacking fortifications?

It works on all land battles
If it only does damage to fortifications it will specify "to ramparts"
I know that the damage reduction war gear works everywhere on so it should be the same for the attack boosts
