Charging cavalry is strong, so I recommend a general with unique equipment that can demonstrate his abilities.
I think Narses and Alfred are good. Narses is also suitable for ranged soldiers, and Alfred is very strong if he commands noble cavalry in the future.
(I'm a foreigner, so I'm not good at English. I'm sorry if it doesn't make sense.)

Don Quixote de la Mancha I think you've unlocked Basil already. Maybe buy him (I'm at Viking Invasion and I need to grind for Varangian and Hero Legend stories) and Alfred. Me asking if Alfred "Freddie" the Great is a cav or infantry general lol

I have the same dilemma, 7000 medals post-update, Kommenos Dynasty. Have only bought Alfred +Roland and Alfred is essentially maxed. I am thinking of buying Justinian as a consul+ Archer gen, but I'm also pondering if I should buy El cid, Nur-Adin, Cnut or Harald, as I find Aetius to be rather dull and underperforming.
* Narses, Basil and Simeon do also look promising though

I honestly do not think Basil can keep up with these two even with a 2cd headhunting as harald is a complete killing machine with varangian and cnut is basically a seagod(although harald can also be one) in the sea although composure with a long cd doesnt seem to look good i believe it will be of use later on the game Cnut is mandatory for me even if you dont have varangian but harald without being varangian i dunno bout that, perhaps you can resort to the archer forced march meta(woad+ravenna+mamluk/elephant arch/mongolian(if you can have one in the future) and aetius[preferably] or any other rapid march gen). Narses, He can be a good archer but ig they're not making him too op with his item unit. Simeon probably competes with Basil maybe even outperforming him
Basil is nice but just kinda good for me for the moment though kinda satisfying dmg when charge+headhunting.
Justinian, oh well I only bought this guy for fun since I am a huge fan of conquest regardless of the rewards. Either way he's not bad but El Cid might be better than him in the long run if you're looking for an archer or Alfred as consul with his 20% boost on negotiation/agreement. For his price, might be a little to high but you can get medals pretty easily though he's not on priority since consul only gives out efficiency in conquest, bonds are also underwhelming. Maybe buy him after you're satisfied with your lineup throughout the campaign if you really want him. El Cid, it's kinda bad with his outburst for an archer although you can still try 2x noble/varangian 1x conquistador for the unique item bonus which is great nonetheless, you can buy him after cnut and harald though archer is a so-so for me. Nur Din looks good but he's basically harald except if he's a vandal/arab archer although archer units doesnt give out much damage in this game, the active skill is also incomparable, charge is always the best in my heart  unless if he has rapid march and/or forced march then I would probably be charmed by him more than el cid lmao. Lacks endgame ability, unique item is also behind the paywall, rare fights on desert. Just a comment from experience and knowledge perhaps this could be edited. |
