I have bought ronald as my third general.But he seems underperforming. His active is useless. He dies very quickly though i upgrade hid unique item. Simon,basil even martel is better than him. I wish i could refund him.my another general is alfred and cnut.

I thought he would be perfect mele cavalary general.he has cavalay tactician, master shord manship ans u can use nisean horse with him.Amd his resource gathering could be helpful. But it is so little and cooldown is so long.

RoLaNd might be more useful after the update, if they will buff melee cav (and once speed cavalry is unlocked), so I wouldn't say that you made a mistake. Plus, maybe in future missions we will meet strong generals with interception and Roland will come in handy. |

I don't think Roland is a waste. The reason is very simple - he is analogous to Cnut in almost every respect. But we definitely have to upgrade his weapon up to level 10. Here is an example. My Cnut has 120 Infantry points. As we know these points increase an attack as well as defence of a unit. Let's take my lvl 7 Varangians and deploy Cnut.   As we see his bonuses are quite noticeable. Plus his weapon will reduce damage taken by 22%. Roland's banner is identical to Cnut's. With a Nisean horse and fully upgraded weapon he can increase his cavalry points up to 110 or so. That means Roland will be very good at commanding cavalry with high basic defence. Now about economy. A single general can't make a serious difference. If you want to provide your team with a solid economic base you have to add other generals like Justinian and Theodora (who has a useful active skill too) You have to use generals with an ability to decrease a cooldown of active skills (Barbarossa probably). Only then there is a chance to improve your finances and to hire a couple of elite units more than usual in campaigns. |

But it is so little and cooldown is so long. Unfortunately melee Cavalry is bad. If compared to other unit types. Stats are horrific. It is possible that it will be buffed, but right now it is what it is. Your Roland is weak not because he is very bad but because melee cav is bad. |

eeeeef, sorry for my misspelling. I am not good at english. Now i understand roland can be very good, can even beaten alfred when speed cavalry is out. But so far i know speed cavalry is p2p unit.

No worries I was just being dramatic for the sake of humor  . But yeah Roland's lackluster performance isn't so much him being a bad general but rather the entire melee cavalry class in general which as far as I know is being buffed in the next update. |

I don't think he will beat Alfred, because Alfred will be buffed indirectly too (his shield will increase cavalry ability instead of administration from the next update). But Roland will be fine with every available powerful cavalry unit. I am not sure about Speed cavalry, since we don't know anything about this unit and its future potential. But Heavy-armored cavalry and Noble cavalry are good enough to make Roland a force to be reckoned with. |

Based from my personal experience, Roland is never a waste. In as much as melee cav is not that great as charge cav. Roland is an excellent at his job. I have Alfred, Basil, and Roland. But I would still prefer roland vs basil due to the fact that he has a special equipment that greatly increased his cav points hehe.   his damage would be higher if I put him the nisean horse but I am using that item with Arthur to up his cav points.  this is with one charge cavalry  and this is with double charge not the greatest but I think that is competent at charge cav units. I guess, correct me if I am wrong. However, he is not a must buy. |

You will always play one more hero legends chapter with Roland (consequently gaining more prizes).
His special unit can be purchased with medals once in a while in the shop and medals are not a problem in the long period (you can definitely spend 2000 medals farming in ordinary campaigns).
