I cleared it by splurging tons of drums.
Avoid unnecessary confrontation and everything should be fine.

yuanzhong , Decided to try it after found Your thread. Didn't use a single drum and almost did it. Moreover was too cautious. Ideally You need generals with Guide and Calmness skills to support. 
UPD: Yep, Guide and Calmness is the key. You can also assign units with forest movement into Matilda's legion. It should also help. I didn't use this possibility.

ibb.co/ZWDXZxgI passed this mission this morning. Richard and El Cid went first to open way. I followed the green path, killed the enemies in the red circle. I used a few drums to heal Richard and El Cid (5 SDrums and 4 BDrums). Hope this help. My generals: Richard (3 knights) El Cid (VG-Conquistador- RCrossbow) Mathilda of Boulogne (Camel-Conquistador-ravena CB)
