Wow this place has slowed down
If this has been asked before I am sorry, but I did not find anything like this.
Would it be possible to finish the game without any tank generals? Pure navy, air, artillery, and infantry. Just a random question I had, since so much of the game seems based on maxing tank generals out.
If this aint possible what is the lowest number of tank generals, you could do? And to make it harder, how bad could the generals be? Like for example, Messe being the top general, instead of like Guderian.

You would need some sick and maxed arty and infantry generals but with proper positioning and meat shields ( steel shields?) I think it’s possible but would require a lot of luck on certain scenarios. All conquests would be easy to do without tank generals as long as your tech and skills are up. Air Force generals are pretty useless and you probably don’t need more than 2 good navy generals in the majority of the game but fielding 5-6 top arty/infantry generals could be devastating in most scenarios and all conquests if used correctly. I personally love fast infantry generals and I send them to create chaos behind the lines. I currently field 2 speedsters and they are usually my superstars in conquest and scenarios for their flexibility. I’m just beat the end game but this is a challenge I would take in the aftergame

Do you mean no tank skilled/star generals or no tanks?
Getting through the final terrorist scenarios (I think) requires generals with Rumor. Terrorist generals usually have 1000+ hit points & their attacks are devastating with their maxed skills/stars. Without tanks (best survivability) & appropriate generals w skills/stars I don't think you could neutralize them with the limited time of the Scenarios and win.
The Conquest game could probably be done with a good Air general & missile/paratrooper saturation, but it would extend the time frame by having to move your Air general to the front.

No generals. You still can use tanks, and even put your generals on them if that's all you have. But no dedicated tank generals.
Have a lineup of like konev, yamashita, MacArthur, leeb, rusandnt (dunno the spelling), Eisenhower, nimtz, the Russian IAP, yamamoto, and any one else you could think of. Thats only 8

I guess... you could complete it I may be wrong in estimation, but I think it's the skills & tech that are the primary factor; Rumor being at the top to neutralize enemy generals, artillery non-hit back tech helps too So Konev/Arnold/MacArthur/etc... with the skills seems likely to be able to succeed
The six tank stars for generals only adds +30 to damage, which doesn't seem much vs 1000+ hit points. But it's the other additive skills (Panzer leader, Armor assault, etc...) that compounds to make for a more effective hit

I think it is possible as Bruchmanati was able to do this challenge all the way up to the Cold War

I think it is possible as Bruchmanati was able to do this challenge all the way up to the Cold War That still means it’s not possible to beat Modern Scenario in a vanilla game at least big props to him

I haven't gotten far but just spitballing here: First gen: Tito Second gen: Leeb Third gen: Konev Fourth gen: Nimitz Fifth gen: Rundstedt/Yamashita/Mannerheim (sell Tito) Sixth gen: Arnold Seventh gen: Rundstedt/Yamashita/Mannerheim Last gen: Donitz (Not actually doing this, but maybe this is possible)

Why not Messe? Guderian should be 3rd general. Konev as 4th then Nimitz as 6th. imo Infantry generals should be 8th or 9th. Arnold is fine with 7th gen. Rommel as 5th

My line up for this challenge would probably be: 1. Crerar 2. Leeb 3. Konev 4. Mannerheim 5. Kuznetsov/Dönitz 6. Zhang 7. Yamashita 8. Govorov
