Ha, not a chance. Narses is an Archer at his core, and in any case, he lacks an item, has a bad (as in low-leveled) active, Mediocre item, low title and rank, his skills are generally low-leveled, terrible unit... Need I go on? Narses Archer?! Of course I give him my best 1 archer unit, but he isn't archer general at all.  Β  I assumed you wanted him for the vaunted melee cav - Ravenna - Woad combo of a lot of attacks. In this case, you repudiate that for his mediocre infantry capability of -6% damage when commanding counter infantry and +15% damage when counterattacking every five turns? Granted his stats are good, but Aetius with some good items is better than that let alone Belisarius. |

Useless for f2p players. I do not deploy him in conquest. I used to think the same but now I beg to differ. I am 100% f2p and he is one of my main go-to guys for conquest, especially conquest challenges where you do not have access to mercenary units for quite some time. I gave him su ding fangβs special weapon and 2 gold equipment and he is hands down my best defense infantry gen, great at holding key cities, especially low level ones. Recruitment skill maxed also means he can replenish troops every turn for the cheapest. In fact I do not think there is a better defense infantry gen for f2p. He also has decent cav and archer stats so it complements his defensive skills. With lvl 10 su ding fang weapon (lvl 4 green, 2x lvl 4 blue, giving defense inf expert lvl 2), desert crescent gold weapon (lvl 4 cyan, lvl 3 blue, giving desperate wager +1 and garrison spearman +5%) and imperial war helmet gold weapon (lvl 5 green and lvl 3 blue, giving master commander +1 and scottish spearman +10%), he gets to: 173 infy, 48 cav, 42 archer, 55 morale, with desperate wager lvl 4 (great to take cities without needing movement gem) and master commander lvl 4. For sure cnut or basil, or even el cid, could potentially be decent defense infy gens for f2ps but it would feel like quite a waste given their skills. |
