Finally I've got War Elefants and Elefant Archers (long time patiently farm them from scrolls). So now I'm curious how to use them effectively - for which generals they'll be perfect? I have Alfred, Cnut, El Cid, Robin Hood and free ones. Main question is their low speed, so even if I replace one 11 speed melee cavalry in Alfred's army for Elefant, legion's speed will be reduced to 10 and what I get in exchange? Same with Elefant Archer for El Cid - should I replace one lvl 6 Ravenna for it and if so what I get in return? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I know it, but now my 1 green melee cavalry gives Alfred's legion 11 speed instead of 10, but Elefand didn't do it, so it should has abother good ability for including it to Alfred, but I can't find why I should add it, sacrificing speed?

I don't understand. There are three units in the legion. In case You desperately want Elephant and War Axe Cavalry at the same time there is room for both. If generally speaking about Elephants I'ld use them as special force together with Camels to demoralize stronger opponents. And obviously not with Alfred. He is more efficient with another setup.

I meant is Alfred with 2 Noble Cavalry and Elefant better than 2 Noble and War Axe? And BTW which setup is better for Alfred in general?

I don't think there is universal answer to the question what is the best setup. It depends on what is Your cavalry lineup. In case You have other Cavalry generals You can use Alfred like I described. My Alfred has Noble Cavalry + Elephant + Camel rider. When Charging Elephant and Camel deal fatal blow to the enemy's morale. Especially if there are two attacks per round. But I have other Cavalry generals I can use as damage dealers (IAP + nonIAP). Most players will use Alfred as main Cavalry damage dealer as he has unique item and in this case charging Cavalry in his legion is more prefferable than Elephants of course. I don't know why do You want to use War axe cav with Noble in Alfred legion. What is the idea? Mobility bonus? It is only 1 point faster than Noble cav. In most cases it will probably won't provide You with additional attack anyway.

Shame what I sold all Camel Rider's fragments because I thought it's useless. What about War Axe - it's my best available melle cavalry unit and Alfred has particular skill, so I thought I'll try it. Before patch Alfred has 1 Phalanx along with Nobles. Maybe I should use all three Nobles then for maximum damage?

In case You are going to use Alfred as Your main charging cav general I'ld ignore his melee cav skill. Charging cav is probably better. I am not sure about Detour skill of the melee cav yet, but Alfred has Tunneling which helps with charge even against non-damaged city fortifications before the attack. In case You are going to buy someone like Simeon futher on than You can start thinking about Melee cav. At least I'ld go this way.
