Now it's time for Convoluted Logic With Gerdy! The part of the show where Gerdy comes out and does some Convoluted Logic.
Imagine you are a player who has the Bottle of Life and doesn't want to get other IAP gens. Well, we have some guidelines:
- Should be cavalry, so you can get the quickest rage refill.
- Should have at least purple level stats, to be able to kill things. This knocks out Edward, Hannibal, Shingen, and the greys.
- Should not have a necessary first skill. Otherwise, It is wasted when Bottle of Life is placed. Knocks out Asoka, Suri, Attila, and Bluecher.
- Saladin, Charlemagne, and Suleiman remain.
- Healing skills like Logistics or Cure Master are not as required because the gen should be able to heal themselves easily anyway. Knocks out Saladin, who essentially is Charlemagne with Logistics instead of Shelter.
Charlemagne vs. Suleiman
Well, I don't think debuffs are important for the carrier, as they should be trying to kill weaker units instead of attacking major threats. Rumor becomes mediocre. Suleiman's stats are better, and I prefer Cover to Shelter + Shield. So Suleiman gets it? I don't think so. I like to put Aegis on Suleiman so that he becomes unkillable, and he gets to use his Rumor in the meantime rather than carrying the burden of having to play medic for his team. This way, the stronger one gets even stronger, while the second option gets an excellent niche. And what of Saladin? Why, he gets Gugnir of course! And Charlemagne is plenty durable and powerful enough to carry it and consistently activate it.

When it comes to Bottle of Life, Charlemagne OP.
This has been Convoluted Logic with Gerdy, tuning in next time to hear: James Wolfe is better than Washington.

Now its time for Convoluted Logic with Gerdy, the part of the show where Gerdy comes out and does Convoluted Logic. Today's topic is "Why Nobunaga Oda is not as good as you think." The reason for that is not because he isn't as good as you think, but rather, there are better alternatives. Four, to be exact. I will go through them one by one throughout this post.
First, Horatio Nelson! His active boost output by 50% This is essentially the same thing as Mass Fire, and I would say that the boost that it gives to friends makes it about equal to that plus Spy, considering both Alex and Khalid have Spy, too, and it doesn't stack. I will be using the precedent throughout the guide. Well, then, he has Navigation, Longbow, and General for Leadership and Sniper Master. Personally, although I think that Leadership is one of the best skills, but it is definitely not better than the three of them combined, and Sniper Master is, quite frankly, bad, maybe worth the General? In any Case, Navigation and Longbow still triumph over Leadership, although IMO by a slim margin, and only because Leadership doesn't stack. I would say Nobby wins in terms of picture though. The beard.
Second, Li Hongzhang. Again, ArchCom is about the value of Spy and Mass Fire put together, they share Leadership and Firepower, meaning that Nobby has Stats and Sniper Master versus Defense Expert and Strike. I would put Sniper equal to Defense Expert, and maybe the stats are better than strike? I mean, dealing 300% damage to Cav is nice, (150% with commander ×2 with Strike) but Nobby has extra attack, defense, and HP. I would give a slight win to Li, and also remind that he is waayyy cheaper. Like, with the price of Nobby, you could get Li, the Paladin Sword, and your mom a new car. And not even a 30 year old minivan.
Third, and the one I had the hardest time about. Should he be taken into account? I am talking about Pachacuti, and I came to the conclusion that if you are a fast player like Deleted or stoic, forget about him. If you play more slowly, like me, you may be able to use him in Industrial. I think we can all agree that he is the best archer in the game, no contest. He has ridiculous availability issues, though, so he may not be your best choice under almost any circumstances. Again, if you can get him, he is the best archer out there.
Finally, Yi Sun Sin. Again, share Firepower. I would say his active is better than Mass Fire and Sniper. Why? Because, while Nobby gets +50% dmg, and also some extra damage sorta, Yi gets -50% dmg with his force field of... ships? Idunno why he got that skill, but I would say it is better because it also helps his friends. I think that Bugle acts as sorta both a Spy and Leadership lite together, like, dropping 15% att and def with every hit is nice, although it doesn't work with gods. Navigation simply speeds it up. I would put Navigation equal to Spy, only because it is paired with bugle, and also Khalid and Alexander exist. For free. So we have, when vastly (over)simplified, +70% against archers and Bugle against Leadership. Against normal units, Yi would be a clear winner, and he is... until you get to the gods. They can't have morale down or be rumored, so Nobby works really well there. Yi is still nice as an armor master though.

Welcome to Convoluted Logic with Gerdy, the part of the show where Gerdy comes out and does Convoluted Logic. I am pulling out the Maths (no, if you say maths you deserve to die) on this one, to prove once and for all, that Hoth is almost as good as Guderian. This will take place on a German double level VI Maus with level 3 tech.
Here are what I take into account:
- Blitzkrieg is really bad, saving a minimal amount of HP. It would be better for you simply to outrange your enemies, or if not that let Artillery and Infantry do the heavy work. Heavy Tanks are way to expensive for us to be wasting them like that. (Now, if it worked on the enemy turn it would be amazing, but I digress).
- Movement (particularly on a tank general), is not particularly useful. Yeah, it is something, but that something is basically negligible. Slow and steady wins the race and doesn't lead to your troops being slaughtered.
- XP skills are not great on tanks. Especially Heavy Tanks. I will rank the two of them together as equal to Blitz. They are that bad.
- I will take AA as +12% damage and not take consistency into account.
Okay! Now moving on. A German double level 6 Maus with tech 3 has damage of (as an average) 82+107=189/2= 74 damage. That is what we will take into account. On Guderian, that is 94 damage and Hoth gets 89 damage. Guderian will want to hit tanks maybe one sixth at most of the time, usually as a coup de grâce. Infantry are a much better target for him. In any case, that is +4% damage.
This can be taken away from Hoth's 12% to get +8% for Hoth. 89×1.08 is equal to 96. He attacks and counterattacks at 96. Guderian attacks at 106 and counters at 94, so Hoth will actually counter MORE than our golden boy. (In fact, he counters a lot more than Rommel, too.) Of course, he attacks -10 and has 15% less HP, but the fact that he can get that close to Guderian is strange.
