I am stuck. Malik-Shah's troops keep wrecking my troops. I captured the North, and the other one for a brief turn when they captured it, and i had no more power to do it again. The Reinforcements from the North were a big problem. I only have 2 war drums Generals: Cnut Alfred Harald El Cid Justinian Ivar Curthouse Adil Theodoric Sunicas Stilicho Totila Theodora Sophronius Theodora Shurahbil Gelimer and the freebies (Aetius, Athelfrith, John the Armenian, Hemeric, Beli, Aiham) I've tried this strategy: But my troops get wrecked. All the reinforcements will leave the yellow top right city uncovered (prepare 2 generals to take that city. I used Iustinian and Cnut if I remember right). Go right with Alfred and Simeon(or Basil) and give them ranged reduction gears. Resources are limited, so I'd suggest to use Iustinian and Theodora's bond and those generals with recruitment cost reduction. When you take the red city you should have almost 2 generals there (a lot of enemies). An infantry general with triple blue vikings is the best due to focused anti-arrows defense. Holding the lower city, take the uncovered in the north and smack the red enemy sieging your red circled city.
Maybe others will be more exhaustive

Maybe others will be more exhaustive Should I put Cnut's triple Varangians on the mercenaries circle or Alfred's Triple Noble Cavalry. And sadly, I do not have any secondary cavalry general (i might get basil, because Roland has more infantry skills than Basil, so Roland is an infantry-cav hybrid like Khalid and Simeon)

I'd recommend Cnut because the enemy's composition is largely made up of archers, which Cnut's Viking Raiders (or the Varangian Guards you chose) can resist. Plus, the terrain is somewhat mountainous and forested.
Belisarius on a newly raised legion, Nur Din or Justinian on the northern inf-2× archer unit. El Cid on the other. Nur Din and Belisarius will hit the enemy reinforcements on the flanks, but their main goal is to take the secondary target.
Alfred on the 2× melee cav, Simeon on the 2× charge cav to be reinforced constantly with cataphracts from the castle. Alfred can be reinforced if there is spare resources. Aetius on the 2× defense inf.
Deploy your gens, use your war gears, upgrade the workshop and city, and reinforce Simeon.
Slowly and carefully defeat the enemies ahead. Deploy the most expensive melee inf unit available and deploy Belisarius. He will be reinforced by cav archers and the most expensive inf that can be afforded.
The trigger should be allied troops approaching the city from the north, anyone successfully damaging the city's defences or anyone hitting the target gen.
Move Simeon and Alfred to recover before sending them in again. Cnut is the best choice as the defender of the target city.
