The fact that you're listing out your bronze generals means that you don't have enough golds. You should get more, like Justinian, El Cid, whichever gold you need. Hard mode is not meant to be played directly after clearing the easy mode in my opinion. You don't play border crisis on easy and then play border crisis on hard. From my viewpoint, you should be clearing 4-5 chapters ahead on easy before you return to play the hard. Only then will you have sufficient generals and troops to clear it

I would say to clear house of normandy easy before going back to border crisis hard. Regarding Vikings mission two... Battle of reading? The one to keep key units alive? You should probably first observe the enemy troops and realize that there are a lot of melee infantry. The general you deploy should preferably be a cavalry general. Afterwards, take down the city, use Belarius (whatever his name is), to occupy the city and make good use of the 25% reduction in recruitment cost to stack him up and move out. Slowly maintain a defensive line around the city, replenishing your troops as needed. If you don't have good cavalry, nevermind, you can use Belarius as a calvary general, recruiting from the city. You'll thank his recruitment as horses are somewhat expensive
