My path is
Guderian->leeb->yamashita->doenitz->Rommel
Tips: don't buy any generals until 1941
You can get through 1939 using free generals
For axis: run Bock and throw him into a tank and messed on a tank(only put him in infantry if you need to airborne)

I think Guderian for first general is a must.
Then one should consider getting either Leeb or an infantry general (Yamashita, Kuribayashi, Runsdedt).
Then Rommel at Africa and Leeb If he wasn't bought earlier.
Then Donitz, who should make a lot of missions A LOT easier.
And at the end, Yamamoto.
P.S. I think unwritten rule of all Easytech's games is not to buy any generals unless you need them
