Strategy One:
Use generals such as Nur Din and Justinian to cripple the city HP. Then use Alfred's active and Theodora's active on Alfred. Then move Aethelfrith and use his active.
Strategy Two:
Attack the north city, and use the programmed city damage to your advantage. Same as any normal campaign.

PS: DONT ENGAGE THE REINFORCEMENTS THEY DO NOT REDUCE THE HP OF THE CITY |

This is like a blitzkrieg battle with seemingly unending waves of reinforcements. If you use strategy one, you can reinforce your wounded legions and try to hit the city in waves.
Using Athelfirth's, Alfred's or similar active skills really do help with the high city defence HP.
Use lvl 2-3 war gears that ignore % of city defence bonus and improve % of certain troop type atk to defeat the gen.
When you occupy the northern city, there will be scripted reinforcements to the NE and SE. The NE reinforcements can be blocked by memorising their entry tiles and having gens block them beforehand.
