To end off the fourth chapter of Epic War, we get a significantly harder battle than the previous two, but still not too hard.
The real god of war, Ptolemy is now dead and Pothinus tries to submit to Cleopatra calling her brother a traitor. Cleopatra accuses Pothinus of selling her brother's soul to Horus and decides to slaughter Pothinus and his army.
For some reason, we are in Morocco and Iberia this time despite still fighting with Egyptians.
Like in the other two levels the spawning grids are divided to two chunks. They'll be again divided into the blue group and red group, red being the more offensive and blue being the less aggressive group. The two group's have their objectives to complete in Africa, before joining in Iberia. The blue group's (east) task will be to destroy the little altar beside them and protect Cleopatra, which luckily isn't too hard and wipe out enemies in the south eastern part of the map. The red group's task will be to destroy the altar north of them, capture the central and the north western city in Africa and wipe out all enemies in Africa along the way.
After this part of your units will deal with Pothinus and the city on the eastern coast if Africa and part will land in the southernmost Iberian objective city. The landing must be done quickly before the arrival of enemy troops and with sufficient strength. After landing quickly destroy the yellow circle temple north of you, because that will make the remaining Anubis join your side. After this you will have to capture the eastern Iberian city with the help of an Anubis, defeat two Behemoths and an Horus and capture the final city, more details on that later.
Startegy:
Yellow: Behemoth
Red: Landing cite
Purple: Important altar to destroy ASAP
Green: Main advance
Yellow: Secondary advance (Behemoth and a few weaker pets)
Blue: Where you will likely encounter Horus.
Part 1: Securing Africa
Red group (turns ~1-6)
Starting from the west and being the more offensive group, its task is to capture the cities north and east of it, destroy the altar north of it, "purge the rebels" in Africa and then land in Iberia, where it will be mixed with the blue group.
On the first turn you should move your troops towards the big altar ahead killing all enemy troops ahead. There's an Anubis north of you, spawn a not so important pet between it and your generals to prevent it doing damage to them. You should kill it right away next turn, preferably with a strong cavalry general with disease immume at level 4. Anubis is a monster that's - like goblins - the most dangerous when left unattacked and can that way cause some very nasty damage to your woad raiders, but when dealt with, not a big problem.
Once the way to the city east of you opens, take it with a few units (for reference, I used Belisarius, Goblin and Cassius, who only had 3 stacks to start with), shouldn't be too hard. The rest of the group will deal with the altar and all enemies nearby + the city north of them. As always remember armour/attack types and damage bonuses when attackimg your enemies and deal with archers and Anubises first.
Once the main part of the group has captured the city and defeated all enemies around them, you can move them to the sea and begin the landing in Iberia. The forces who captured the city to the east (and the Behemoth in my case, although it's optional) will join the blue group and help defeating Pothinus and to later land on Iberia.
Blue group (turns ~1-12)
Despite being the worse group in terms of firepower, it will still be completely in charge of securing a secondary objective, Cleopatra. They will also join with the rearguard of the red group, help them clear the area around the central city and then defeat Pothinus and the remnants of his army before joining the rest of the red group in Iberia.
Because, the blue group will protect Cleopatra it would be good for it to have fast units and generals/generals with mobility items (Caduceus will be a great option once it comes available).
On the first few turns move your generals and pets between Cleopatra and enemies to prevent her chariot from dying. Destroy the altar with your slower units and use the other to protect Cleopatra and kill nearby enemies at all costs. Cleopatra will move west towards the central city and you with her. Meet up with parts of the red group and clear the area around the city of all enemies (you should basically have Africa clear of any enemies except towers).
Once the city is cleared, you can move north to deal with Pothinus and leave Cleopatra alone, she shouldn't do anything stupid.
While approaching Pothinus, clear the area of enemies and then deal with the city and Pothinus.
Part 2: Conquest of Iberia (turn ~8 and onward)
Once you've mostly crushed the rebels in Africa, you can turn your eyes on Iberia, where - for some reason - Horus has fled, and defeat Horus for once and for all.
Once the red group has achieved its objectives, you can pretty much forget the group division, just take your most powerful units (except Behemoth who's dealing with Pothinus) and some other fast units from the blue group to absorb some damage.
Land on the southernmost Iberian city (shown in the second picture and in the next one) and do it fast so you aren't sunk to the sea. Don't be shy to use forced march and destroy. Capture the city. Near the city will be a 5-stack Behemoth, which you will have to defeat (Woad Raiders are the best for this).
In the words of Sensei Wu, the best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend. Those are words you should follow, destroying the big altar near you will make the enemy Anubis across Hispania betray Horus and become your allies, so naturally, you should do that as quickly as possible.
After destroying the altar, leave part of your units to clear the area around landing spot, part of your units will help your allies to capture the city east of the landing spot and part will move west to defeat a second Behemoth. By this time you should already be getting ready in Africa and you can start sending reinforcements from there. Maybe you'll have to leave a unit or two to make sure nothing silly happens there.
Part 3: Epic battle against Horus
Now as you can see and as I said in the last section, there's another Behemoth west of you and the friendly Anubis in the east is fighting against those evil monsters. Now I'm repeating myself, but move a few units to capture the weakened city in the east while the main force deals wkth the Behemoth. Remember all thump units and horse archers are good against Behemoths.
Now if you've done this, there's only one enemy to capture and one enemy - Horus - to kill. Horus isn't passive at all and he will come at you where ever you go.
There aren't really any special tricks to defeating Horus. Just take note that he can heal, spread plague and his attack and armour type. Once you've dealt with Horus, the only and obvious thing you have to do is capture the last city in the NW of the map, that's it.
