First off, I'm a long time reader, first time poster. Thanks for all your great walkthroughs, they were pretty much the only reason I survived Eastern Overlord.
I just finished a conquest as 1798 Poland where I ended with only three countries alive: Poland, Italy and Denmark. I was trying for the perfect conquest, where I was the only country left alive, but the AI kept sitting troops on cities, so I couldn't steal them, and Italy decided to start trying right at the end. Still, through stealing cities and sitting on farms I managed to turn all my other allies against me or weaken them enough that the AI could kill them.
Has anyone ever managed a perfect conquest, where they were the only country left at the end?
(As a side note, this took me 146 rounds, but I did earn 179 medals from it)

It's hard to force our allies to turn by taking their territories. Plus, they are more tolerant of such infractions, if I'm not wrong. Additionally, even if one or two countries fall, the rest will probably still hold out completely or for a long time, even with the odds stacked against them. Egypt 1815 is one such case.

I managed to get down to 2 countries, me as 1798 HRE and Portugal. You're right about countries just surviving endlessly, I could get Portugal down to a fort and a ship in port, but no lower. The AI just won't let them die.

Depending on the failure setting a country fails at no unit left or no unit and no city.

Is there a setting that allows you to change what colour countries are? Usually conquests just have the countries split about evenly red-blue and you just join a side. To sweep the board you have to manually make your allies change sides by stealing cities. Is there something I have missed?

Usually conquests just have the countries split about evenly red-blue and you just join a side. To sweep the board you have to manually make your allies change sides by stealing cities. This is absolutely correct. The chance to turn your allies on the first steal is minimal and later on most countries keep one troop in cities, so the chances for a 'perfect conquest' are really not good. 1798 seems to be the only conquest where you can have this chance. AI can't cheat Is there a setting that allows you to change what colour countries are? Is there something I have missed? For the How-To change conquests have a look at the Modification Board
