I finally did it! I managed to successfully complete a perfect conquest, where I was the only country left at the end!
I played as 1809 Switzerland, mainly because I'd had trouble destroying Switzerland when it was an ally. As well, most blue countries in 1809 get destroyed or nearly destroyed by red, leaving me less to do.
The first thing I did was send troops all over the map, stealing cities from my allies, but not bothering to defend them and usually giving them up to red countries to make them stronger. I found France, Denmark, Sweden and Rhine turned on me quickly. Poland died on its own, and then Britain and France then teamed up to kill Amsterdam. I had to help Italy and Naples take some territory so they had new cities I could steal but they also eventually turned on me. Ottoman was hard, and it took me until round 120 to turn them basically by waiting for Russia to kill their troops so I could take their cities.
Eventually, by around round 120, I had killed off all my allies except Ottoman, who had turned black. By this point however, undermining all of my allies had made the red countries extremely powerful, and without any allies fighting red, I was forced to retreat to Africa and Northern Scotland.
I quickly lost England, then bottled up in Africa with my three artillery generals (The rest had already died). I then got zerg rushed by about 15 generals.
I lost the city, but held there for about 100 rounds, healing my generals with medkits until they had killed all the red generals and most of their troops. Then I pushed out, retaking Corsica, Africa and Sicily. Then I pushed into Spain, Italy and Southern France. Once I got a foothold, it was simply cleaning up the map, which I finished at round 430.
I really wasn't sure this would be possible, simply because if all your enemies are focusing on you, the sheer amount of troops is nearly impossible to beat. I really only did it through using medkits to survive Africa, but once I killed all the generals, there wasn't much else. It just took forever to finish, because of the amount of map that had to be retaken, most of it which the AI covered in forts. Still, this proves that you can actually win a perfect conquest!
