Probably the best melee cavalry general...The problem is that the best melee cavalry general hardly is any better than a decent charge cavalry general. Hi stoic I’m glad to read you again  The best part of Gao is his unique item (the second f2p cavalry item that gives damage increasing and the first f2p unique of its kind that gives a full bonus effects). I personally tested him and he has great potential (virtually he has 54% general attack bonus for knights with his active on, 74% with a black guard in the legion and another 10% dedicated boost to melee cavalry for a total of 84% in this regard). - Nevisky can do 60% (65 if you level up pole-arm mastery somehow or using gems). - Richard can do 87% and he’s the best cavalry generals low hands. In conclusion Gao can be a killing machine, but we’d need at least one more purple horse for we f2p to level up cavalry tactician without sacrifices (no problems at all for p2w). Black guards have one of the best legion effects (the same effect of Jet black cavalries’, but you get mobility per detour attack instead of charge). He is a 5 stars to me, and for now I gave him morale gems since I’m broke xD |

I’d say that he can be surprisingly good for missions, when you have lot of melee cav at the start. Cause actually you have 2-3 charge cav stacks to deploy Alfred Nevskiy and Tszimekies

Hiya, I recently got Gao Xianzhi and I’ve been loving his skill; but I still don’t have his Dragon Head Mace which is really putting him behind my other generals… It says I can get the equipment from Triumphs (Territory), but I don’t see it in the list of rewards. I have completed all of them except for the 275 battle wins (260/275) and the 9 wonders (8/9). Did I miss some sort of special event when we could get it through the battle rewards? Sorry if it’s already been answered before. There are special events for obtaining the item. It is just the battle wins thing. You might have to look deeper in the battle wins achievements (need 475 invasion win). |

Actually he is quite good as a charge cavalry general as well. I don't have any hopes for upgrading his special unit any time soon, but when used as charge cavalry general, he is an extremely good addition to the team together with Li Jing. kingbutawl is right. His special weapon plays the key role. |

Alright, I am convinced, I have changed his set up from BAG + sepulchre + teuton to Jet + bag + sepulchre.
Let’s see. I remember from seeing it by chance in one of the epic battles that jet + bag can be quite cool as it can give +4 mobility.
