Imo, the Knight Templer but it mostly depends on what unit you have unlocked.

I agree with nikomachos that in the long run jet black cavalry might be even better than templars. Unfortunately, we can't get their fragments neither in recruiting pool nor in our Territory shop. I hope ET will unlock them in the upcoming update.

I hope ET will unlock them in the upcoming update. That’s not true imho. Templars boost all troops around for 5% dmg and have 20% more range dmg resistance that is really important skill for cavalry (remember that range unit attack first)

But they are best when they work together. Templar + JBC is a better combination than 2 Templar or 2 JBC.

In static warfare Templars are probably better, but in mobile operations JBC are superior, imo, because moving and attacking twice is exactly the thing we expect from shock cavalry. 5% damage increase does not stack, so it is enough to have one lvl 1 Templar in a legion of a support general to have this bonus for nearby units. And Templars' range defence doesn't have legion effect, unfortunately. I don't have neither of them, but previous tests with JBC demonstrated promising results.

I know, but I would prefer to have different sources of fragments at my disposal. I think that keeping some of these units locked doesn't have any sense at this stage of the game anyway. Why to unlock Dragoons but not to do the same with Conquistadors? I don't understand it, tbh.

Jet Black imo is especially important in Templar and Lackland Treasure where you are consistently nerfed and the enemy has 1.5 times your own hp. Attacking two times can mean the difference between the enemy surviving and dying.
