I need a lot of help with this one, I took the castle, and took the other city, and tried to attack the one with the general on it, but the buffed troops came up and killed me.

I think you need to take the other target as soon as possible.

I tried to. I used troops not actively attacking the city as meat shields, but they still manage to kill every single one of my generals.

I don't know what stage do you mean, so I will explain both. In stage 1 you need to split your army into two groups, take one group to one edge of map, and with other take yellow circled castle, after that, you will have a pass on both sides to attack red circled cities. Then you take them, however keep in mind that it is better to attack and take city on right side first, because buffed units will attack it first. For stage 2 you have two approaches, first one is to take your best generals and destroy the hell out of both your and enemy troops, or to take some generals with Master Arsonist and Calmness active skills and you know, lit the guy on fire.

It's the first stage. Did you keep 3 gens to attack each city? I recommend saving Belisarius as the reserve for the western forces so that Alfred and close in and attack twice on his first turn.
Perhaps there is a time limit until the elite troops move or they are triggered by the presence of troops nearby (2 tiles away). Speed is the key here.

I did keep 3 gens to attack each city, I do not know what does crimsonkhan's generals are, but I had Cnut, Roland, Alfred, El Cid, Belisarius and Aetius. I used my Infantry guys to attack castle and then eastern city first. Now you shouldn't rush at all, because 1. you have plently of time or 12 rounds, which is more than enough and 2. buffed troops are triggered by your presence (2 tiles). So throw your infantry guys to defend, while you easily take western city.

Thanks to all for your help

Thanks to all for your help I must say that it is better for you to go for Roland instead of John, 1 because he has more cavalry skills(cavalry tactician and master swordsman) and 2 he has more capability points than John and you get his unique item really soon.

Thank you for your opinion, but personally I like John a lot because he does massive damage( 1500-2000+ depending on enemy units), and has provided tty good survivability because of that.

John I T. also has more cav capability when fully upgraded (20!), and his special unit is better and easier to accumulate than Roland's. If you can pass the early game without him, then there's not much reason to invest into Roland.

And as I’m in late game, I already have many powerful generals that I would rather perfect than hire an entirely new one.
