I just started WC4 completely from scratch after having beat the game (pre frontier update version) previously. As I don't want to go through the months of grinding invasions that I did last time, I have treated myself to Zukov, Manstein and the Battlepass. I also bought the Washington monument for 500 medals to speed up the tech tree a bit. After briezing through WW2 I have now arrived in the Cold War era. I picked up Guderian, Konev, Nimitz and Rommel (in that order). In addition to the familiar medals, generals can now also be equipped with additional buffs. I have yet to figure out how to aquire these. What is the most efficient way to aquire these banners? While Guderian still appears to be the King of all generals and deserves full presedence over Manstein. I have yet to figure out how to prioritize Zukov and Konev. Both are basically fresh out of the box. I upgraded Zukovs AL once and Konev has three levels of Rumor. The way I see it the Marshal rank has Zukov edging out Konev. With most of my resources heading towards Guderian I simply can't afford to upgrade Konevs rank as well. What's the general stance on these two Soviet cannons?

With most of my resources heading towards Guderian I simply can't afford to upgrade Konevs rank as well. What's the general stance on these two Soviet cannons? The consensus is usually that Zhukov starts out better (of course), but when maxed Konev is moderately better (cause he has Rumor and either explosives, plain fighting, or crowd tactics. He doesn't blow Zhukov out of the water but does deal a decently more amount of damage). Also to get the additional buffs (ribbons) go to scenario and select the "war zone" option at the bottom of the right sidebar. I find that the first war zone gives out more useful ribbons than war zones 2 and 3 (and it's easier as well). But completing each war zone for the first time also gives you medals (for accuracy, leader skills etc.) that you can put on other generals. Also don't upgrade rank unless you absolutely have to. I'd say getting them to M general is probably more than enough for Cold War, and focus on their skills.

Will use Konev primarily as a Rumor general for now while I upgrade my tanks. Maybe circle back to them later.

In conquests they are the same. In campaign missions, or anything with dangerous enemy generals, Konev is much better (rumor).

Rumor and Explosive (4th and 5th) I used plain fighting as my 5th skill instead, but explosives is pretty good as well

Plus there's so much fortress in frontier and war zone. Maybe next time we can test the difference between that two skills on Konev.

After getting used to CT play style, it's equal to 2-4 times +30 terrain bonus (with 3 and 4 being the case when laying siege to fortresses) on the recipients. Plus they can choose their hexes more freely compared to terrain skill users. And Guderian will always be my main damage dealer thanks to attacking again.
"Main damage dealer shouldn't buff others" Donitz probably

Rumor is useless for 3 star ‘39/‘43 except for maybe the Italian generals in the Balkans. But Guderian should have plain.

For me, the only used for CT is on mission, frontier, and invasion, where we march together as group. That's why i dont really need it when doing speedruns, because yes, the difference is not that huge with the diff in unit mobility.
