I've got +48000 SoW and I'm not sure in which units should I spend them. My best units (T5-T6) are: - Melee Inf: Varangian 17, Hengdao 7.
- Defense Inf: --
- Melee Cav: Hospitaller 10, Teutonic 14, Sepulchre 13, Black Armored 7.
- Charge Cav: Noble 17, Boyar 10, Klibanophoros 10, Templar 15, Jet Black 0.
- Ranged Inf: Longbowmen 12, Genoese 12, Conquistadors 14.
- Ranged Cav: Mamluk 14, Imperial Bow 14.
All other units T5-T6 units I haven't upgrade, but I've never dismantled anything so could be an option.
I raid Conquistador, Templar and Mamluk (because those are the best raids available to me), those I'm gonna upgrade slowly through raids.
My main ideas are to spend all the scrolls in to Jet Black to get to level 15 and use them with Templar or Hengdao to level 17 to use in all infantry legions.
Some other options I can think of are:
- Max Imperial Bow.
- Improve a bunch of T5 units to increase the power of those generals who have them as unique unit.
What do you think is better? Any other options? Thanks.

flebowski Upgrade those units that you use the most as part of your legions, in my case that would be Hengdao Battalion and IBC. Or you can upgrade as many units you use up to LV12, to get a bonus on the first skill that nicely increases their damage.

If you haven't spent them so far, I don't see any reason to do it now. Wait until the 5th skill is unlocked. It is difficult to tell with precision, but potentially these skills, as a cherry on top, can be either interesting or (in other instances) mediocre at best, so our evaluation of units may change eventually.

Maybe it would be good to save them to upgrade some units that we have to use in campaign, like longbowmen in the missions of the first part of Hundred Years war. I presume you already finished all campaign missions, considering all those high level units you have, but maybe in the upcomibg Ottoman campaign we will have to use a lot of janissaries, who knows.

IMO, your way is the worst way using soul. Using the most precious thing in the game for the temporary use units.

Well, if I had more than 1 general to deploy, then I wouldn't need to upgrade those "temporary units" much, if at all, but since I'm f2p, I need them to be at least at a decent lvl...

hrabrimalitoster , the things is that I my most used units are Varangian and Templar, that's why I was thinking in invest in Hengdao to improve mobility in infantry legions or Jet Black for charging combo with Templars. My dubt is which one would make a bigger impact in my legions.
Maybe my the best option is to upgrade Hengdao to lvl12 (cheaper as already are lvl7) and keep the rest of souls for the upcoming updates as stoic suggested. I'll think about it, thanks.

One more consideration is who you'll field as your summoned legion. You'll want that gen's special unit to be strong as well. Given that I field Timur and his IBC is an undisputable strong unit, there's no issue here.

You might want to do some testing with jet black. In terms of how the mechanic could fit your play style. I find them amazing to the point that I am surprised / disappointed when I do not get the extra attack (once in a while, when cav does not charge, or in campaign/conquest when they are not available lol). That extra attack makes cav so much more powerful, which is kinda the point of charge cav. I also pair them with BAGs now (on alfred and gao) and the +4 movement is really cool. Allows to take a city, or keep attacking, or even run for cover after the attack in some instances.

I'm in a similar situation, having 45k souls. As long I can manage to keep up with the known content I see them as a trump card to avoid excessive grinding/medal spending for when an unknown future would require it.

Yesterday I found time to test Jet Black and could not agree more with you, that (almost) guaranteed extra attack is amazing. And the fact that can be incorporated to the legions of so many generals without loosing any other perks is great too. Only downside is the price to upgrade. Maybe I wait until the next discount period and buy them with medals and keep the scrolls for now. Thanks.
