This is the first "difficult" mission of Italy, and it provides a nice warm up as you continue down the italian campaign.
In fact, this mission is rather easy, all it requires is speed!
This will be brief, so let's start the brief.
Mission Objectives: Capture all Key Points
A: Capture two key cities
B: Keep the Naval General Alive
Generals Used: Beseler (Artillery), Ivanov (Artillery), Jackson (Armoured Car), Plumer (Cav), Robert Lee (Machine Gun), Straubenburg (Inf)
Overall Strategy: Let your allies distract the enemy while you blitz through.
Detailed Breakdown
To start off, my key concern specifically was the sinking of my allied ship.
To this end, I immediately blockaded the path in front of my allied cruiser, while purchasing an additional submarine in case I needed reinforcements.
My next target was the enemy artillery, who had the capability to damage my armoured car and navy.
Focus fire against them.
Having dealt with the initial weak troops blockading my way, I made my way to the first objective city.
Archduke Eugen will come charging at you on his armoured car, so take note to provide some cover while your artillery shell the city, and his car.
Also do take note not to let your cavalry charge directly in, lest you wish for his armoured car to shred it.
After dealing with the Eugen on his armoured car, I took the opportunity to use my cruisers to take out the enemy battleship, as well as the final artillery on the coast.
With most of the coast secure, I had no further use for the cruisers, so I let them idle there, shooting at everything in range.
Borovic will then come out of his city to lead a counter offensive after you have taken the city.
However, Borovic's machine guns can only target one thing at a time, so I left a simple militia in the city, while I charged for the objective.
While Borovic and gang attempt to take back the city, a couple of infantry is more than enough to hold it. Your cruisers can also provide covering fire should they get too close.
My machine guns and artillery relentlessly shell the Northeastern objective city without resistance.
And there, with the final blow dealt by my Ivanov, the city is open. Aim for the goal, which is to occupy the cities, and not annihilation.
Congrats, you've reached the end of the brief, go out there and win the game!
Final notes: My tech was maxed for this level, but if you're here, I suspect you shouldn't be too far off either!
1. Avoid taking the northern non objective city, doing so will lead to an ambush where additional enemy artillery appear in the rear to strike your starting city.
While it can be dealt with, it's an annoyance that can be avoided. Simply do not assist your allies in taking that city.
2. While I had initially purchased a submarine to cover threats from the sea, enemies did not materialise. You may save up your resources and rely on your two cruisers.
3. My artillery generals had mountain fighting, which enabled them to cross quickly, if yours do not have, you might want to skirt along the sidelines, taking care to avoid Borovic in the unlikely event that he finds your artillery a better target to shoot than the city.
4. I did not purchase any additionally troops apart from infantry to hold the city, if it benefits you, you can definitely purchase additional troops to assist you!
