I'm currently doing 1943 conquest as Spain. I'm at 44th turn with South+North America, Australia, and most of Africa secured. But Asia is still at large (Luckily, Japan survived. yay!) and South-Eastern Europe being crushed by millions of Soviet infantries (I have already got Moscow and North+Western Europe however). Britain, France and America is already out of the war. But I think with the amount of cities left to capture I'm not going to make it within 65 turns without taking great risk or luck.
So what is the best Axis country to rush in conquest 1943, in case I'm not going to make it? I've already got the Allied wonders, now I'm trying to get the Axis one.
And for those of you who ask why did I choose Spain, its because I can directly rush America (unlike Mountbatten I didn't go for Brazil first), grab the nukes and then start invading Europe with the nuke+paradrop, which I thought would make it a bit easier and faster to drop Britain and USSR off the war.

Japan makes a good choice. It becomes a lot more difficult managing lands but I found it rather quick for an axis 1943. There's also a guide for it in this forum.

By the time you reach Europe (like 30-35 turns), almost all of the overpowerful generals spawned by the AIs are all dead, or nearly dead. You would be able to sweep in and take over Europe with or without Germany or Italy. Spain is somewhat difficult to properly play since Europe is pretty much the most vital area of the world and Spain does horribly in 1943 for holding off Russia and UK in comparison to Germany who definitely could do it better (if it wasn't for the moronic AI programming ofc). By the time you're ruling North America, Russia and UK would have overwhelmed Germany and Italy. Japan is better because they at least give you domain over the Pacific and Asia (and North America if taking the Alaska route to invade America) before you fight over the destiny of Europe. I definitely do agree with Cardbattler here.

Japan is the best, you got the south East Asia, you have China, your own land, heck its no brainer at all! Not just the lands, you even start with nine Japanese generals plus whatever you do own in your roster. And in the middle city of Japan's homeland you have one supertank where you definitely should put your best tank general there and use him almost like an artillery shooting down Chinese and Russians. Japan is definitely the easiest Axis power in 1943.
