This is pretty long overdue, but what's your guys' take on the other units that you don't often use?
- Flame Longbowmen (Flame Longbow) - Sipahi (Damage Debuff) - Byzantine Flamethower (Weapon & -5% Strength to Enemies) - Byzantine Hoplite (Defensive Ability) - Knights of the Garter (Increased Damage Buff) - Zhuge Battalion (Combo Attack) - Royal Swordsmen (Morale Buff) - Klibanophoros (Halberd)
All of these units have a skill or weapon which can prove to be useful on the battlefield. Although, they're not mention all that much. I wonder if I should use these units more in my setup.

I think the composition of a legion heavily depends on the level of units a player has at his disposal. For sure, there are many interesting setups, but the level of these units should be high enough to make any use of it. There is another question I always ask myself. What do I need these new (and majority of old) units for? And the answer is not that clear. In regular campaigns our choice is rather limited. Territory battles and expeditions can be won with any setup, honestly. The same is true about Hero chapters. So, the only mode of the game where we could possibly test these new formations are TM. In my opinion, it is not a motif enough to upgrade all available units. We desperately need new content for using them. Otherwise it always will be an academic talk without any practical consequences.

From those mentioned i only use firelongbowmen and honestly not often it was more of a hundred years war rush. And the answer is they are awesome when all the enemies burn and painfull when you yourself march into the fire you created. So yeah, worth it? No. About gaming experience: it was rly fun to have decent lvl units for once lol and not ignoring every apsect of unique gameplay the new chapter offers only bc we invested too much in the obvious units. But it was kind of a one time thing for me. I will of course unlock everything but not for any good reason just bc we have enough gold by now. Conclusion: still not worth it. But Still more fun to play the game to its full extent rather than having to ignore so much of it.
About optimization: yuanzhong argued for garter dmg potencial and i still doubt it will be a real gamechanger. Anything but flamethrower i doubt even their potencial. But who am i, i only have 2 of the mentioned above lvl 12 2nd conclusion : flamethrower->yes.
