True... If something went wrong after several initial turns - the best way to handle it is to restart or to strengthen your team and to fight another day...

True... If something went wrong after several initial turns - the best way to handle it is to restart or to strengthen your team and to fight another day... It's isn't EW6:1914 for sure. I'd consider Barbarian Invasion simply because there is only 1 invader who almost cannot be befriended, but almost everyone else befriends each other in my current Britons run. Imagine the two Frankish states befriending each other when war is supposed to be inevitable. The horror!

I would say developing that system further and creating more than 2 opposing alliances potentially could be far more promising and interesting. But, hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles

Challenge conquest I just do the smaller maps because my phone cannot run Century of Iron 80 without crashing . Prefer the simple ones like Barbarian Invasion and Rise of Byzantium and cc80 only.

My first and current run of English Expedition in Crusader States feel extremely easy. Except the Sultanate of Rum, which hasn't entered into war against Byzantium yet, there is practically no resistance to my advance in Egpyt. Also, Subutai with his weapon is OP. I wonder if taking Jerusalem and overruning the Kingdom to invoke HRE and French Expeditions will be worth it. Edit: Pre-Fall of Constantinople ver. 75 points challenge. -5 Diplomacy per turn instead of -7 points per turn. Also, Negev and Antioch's fall led to the HRE Crusaders showing up. Update 2: By turn 38, which is my current turn, everyone is trying to destroy each other. Byzantium declared war on the HRE Crusaders, which automatically drew the French in. Surprisingly, Jerusalem joined. Guess the HRE held lands in Anatolia is free real estate now, as long as I can take it. The Seljuk Empire practically isolated itself which lifts some pressure off of me because the Abbasids and half the Eldiguzids are in the Levant.
It was nearly impossible to break out from Anatolia and any cities by the Black Sea because of enemy and allied spam, as well as poor terrain. Long detours, fierce resistance, and no empty land to concentrate troops are why I couldn't begin to attack the Anatolian Beyliks in proper from Trabzon. As such, now that my southern pincer through the conquered Ayyubid and Tripoli lands have arrived, Antioch will finally be retaken.
Victory update: Could've been closer to a score of 395k if I conquered the last 4-5 Abbasid cities instead of a diplomatic knock-out blow (I have a score of 393k+). Perhaps even higher if I attacked Armenian Cilicia, Jerusalem and Georgia, leaving Byzantium, France and the HRE alone.

It would be helpful if you guys can share the challange level you are playing when you make a suggestion. It is completely a different story 70 pts vs 80 pts regarding diplomacy as far as I can see. Thanks for the tips!

I found 75-point Britons during Barbarian Invasion to be doable. The version from pre-Downfall of Byzantium, with -7 diplomacy points per turn, I think. Otherwise, it's the choice of -30 points instead of -45 points upon entry. I did get improving relations with the Bretons over time when in an alliance. This was also an interesting test of the mechanics of Challenge Conquest because we can observe that the AI either use gifts or attempt to spam and forge better diplomatic relations. This was evident from the facr that the two Frankish states avoided war and even entered into a Passage Agreement state.
