My most painful campaign was March on Britain.
I was stuck on 4 stars for the longest time, till today:
5 rounds earlier than 5 stars.
Does that look like it was a breeze for me?
Short answer: No.
You don’t know all the calculations, all the saves and loads it took for me to get this perfect result.
I saved and loaded not only for Lan’s Assault Art, but also for Jackson’s Defense Art, for all units to deal maximum damage and take minimal health loss, to get that victory effect for every kill, to stop Hull’s morale reduction every time from that stupid double guard cav at the start, to lure Paget and Cotton correctly using small forts… Trust me, it was a painful process.
Now? I get to enjoy the fruits of my labour. 13 rounds for this. Took me about an hour.
I think this just demonstrates how powerful S&L tactics are. Usually, my Jackson would keep dying cuz he’s weak, but Defense Art quite literally made him immortal.
My second most painful was American Revolution I and Great Sea Warfare (tied for how annoying they are) but I didn’t really need to S&L to beat them 5 stars.
American Revolution I was about Brock being annoying by not coming down early, and Great Sea Warfare was about Treville’s strength.
But March on Britain? Sidney and Drummond are a breeze, but there is an insane combination of 2 4-star cav gens (not to mention- one in armored car plus Assault Art) and there is a random Jervis at Southwest, which I don’t see the point of existing, and there is a port west of London which also I don’t understand why I should capture.
Road to Hell is overrated, and March on Britain is underrated.
The runner-up at 4th most annoying was Revenge of the British (Calder moment), and the arguably easiest was Peninsular Landings. It looks prrtty intimidating at the start, but it is easier than it seems. 5 star first try
