So I made basil a cab focussed general, however with me having his new weapon I'm wondering if I should reset his stats and focus on making him an Infantry focussed general?

it depends on you.
you can reset it at the cost of 50medals and change units since i assume your have cavalry units.
actually you can have bonus in cavalry unit via the skill master of assault, which includes knightly halberd(klibanophoros) axe(war axe cavalry) for some reasons.
infantry
as he is made to be one. but used to be a cavalry gen. not the strongest inf gen(being bruce) but good alternative
also what units have high lvl. in my case infantry so i make him inf gen.

Don't forget the bonus of leading Varangians. 30% damage bonus is huge. And finally there are more decent cavalry generals than Infantry generals in the game. Actually there is only a handful of Infantry generals with personal weapons. And there are only 3 f2p ones (Cnut, Bob and... Basil) whose weapons are within reach of every player. It will literally take years to unlock Manuel's weapon, for example, though technically it is "f2p".

Cnut is #3, Basil is #4 imo.. |

Yes absolutely worth it early to midgame, reset him. *joke for longtime players: but no dont! or you are missing out on basil-regret"* unagok he did specify that gens and weapons all players can comfortably reach always. Even early on. |
