There are days when I am tempted to max out Isabela's cavalry stars. Yes, all her combat skills are oriented toward artillery but a 5 star cavalry general is still a beast - and one with Geography even more so, since she doesn't need warhorse and can carry two move items.

Worth for US 1775 since she can move EXTREMELY quickly maybe? helps with starving out Britain

Isabella is for Artillery, one of the few that I would not train for any other unit. She only has geography to use - for cavalary geography is only in the beginning a usefull skill and for artillery you train Isabella just to 4 movement stars.
Sophia is better on cavalary, as long she has not to fight in bad terrain - the cobination of Spy and guards is fantastic. Sakurako is a good cavalary commander from the beginning.

I went the opposite route, though currently I don't have Isabella - Sophia full arty, later acquired Golitsyn and Sulkowski. I usually play Sakurako as arty so I have 2 each Arty/Cav/Navy gens (Sophia/Sakurako; Golitsyn/Sulkowski; Kate/Ushakov)
