Normal level was easy but in this one I didn't even come close. I lost somewhere just under turn 20. That "Perish Together" buff takes too much health from my generals.

I found it best to take the North German city to defend there. It shortens your north Soviet front by a lot.

First time clearing the event on both difficulty levels. May I ask, what caused Bastico's morale to drop? I don't see any air gen present, so I must assume that it's either a bug, or an Elite air unit that dropped his morale. Also, it seems like losing Gdansk = immediate Soviet intervention based on the triggered dialogue. Besides presumably activating the Soviets early, any effect?
Fought a Pyrrhic tactical victory by holding / recapturing Gdansk. A two-layer deep line for the northern front is more than enough. I basically held the SE front with forts alone due to the low concentration of Soviet troops. German forces kept sniping forts and troops along the western and NW mountain range. They kept breaking the northernmost fort of the western line, and that of the SW line. If the SSW city cannot be reached, the Germans will try to sail to bypass one's forts.

The Soviets attack on round 11, I believe. The strategy is thus to keep your general in the West until round 8 or so, when you need to move about half to the East. This also means you don’t need to build forts in the East until round 9.
