How exactly this skill works?
I've heard that it cannot activate skills from the second gen if the original attacker doesn't have them. So for example, Yamashita has explosives and joins Marshalls attack, Yamas explosives won't work unless you have changed one of Marshalls skills to explosives.
Also joint attack doesn't seem to be able to activate fatal blow on the second gen.
Thus Eichelberger for example can't really take advantage of anything else but accuracy on the second attacker, meaning joint attack is kinda weak on him.
But since Tolbukhin has both inspiration and plain fightning, can his joint attack also activate these skills on the one who joins his attack?

Those are big assumptions which I doubt are true. I'm unable to test them but I think jonblend once did? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Erich von Manstein , it wasn't me who did the testing, but here are the results. Base line was that leader skills of second generals triggered even though it didn't show on screen.
Unfortunately, plain and inspiring were not included in the setup and we don't know the exact stats of attackers (there's a RA and FA; no idea who was on what). Maybe Kluge's ignore defense skill was not calculated into the joint attack but the best way to verify your hypothesis would be more tests.

Fatal blow and passive skills will work fine like normal, because I have tested it already. Manstein had asked me to check if gens paired with Eichelberger can deal fatal blow when attacking under effect of attack guidance, and turned out all three gens I tried can still Crit without the leader skill icon popping up. As for explosives skill, I frequently use Marshall on medic without explosives to pair with Yamashita and MacArthur (both have explosives) and he can deal as much as 390+ dmg to fortresses in warzone and Barbarossa event if no one is on armored infantry or some countries’ commandos (which have anti-stronghold skill “mortar”), or exceed 400+ if Yamashita and MacArthur are on armored infantries, which should not happen if what you heard is true (Marshall on medic attacking fortress alone struggle to deal 100 dmg even when crit).

Actually no, if you look carefully, you can see it was stated to be done with FA”s”, meaning that a 2nd FA was built and used instead of the RA. Also, the joint attack dmg output is pretty much A’s + B’s (Kluge’s 130 + Eichelberger’s 81 = Their joint attack 211, Konev’s Crit 135 + Eichelberger’s 98 = Their joint attack 233), given that Konev and Kluge started out with already maxed artillery ability, it is quite obvious that Kluge’s defense ignore skill did take effect (otherwise Kluge’s dmg range should not be too different than Konev when the later doesn’t have other dmg buffing skill other than AL and Accuracy).
