I suggest everyone take a new look at how the perks of the collected medals have changed. This may help you decide on new purchases, skill decisions, and medal distributions. For example: you may want to decide to give Rundstedt Economy skill and related medal which now boosts Elastic defense simultaneously, give Nimitz Air/Fleet leader skills which are now all boosted by Aces Medal, or consider giving Yamamoto industrial skill, whose medal now boosts carpet bombing, and is ideal for missile production while on arty in a city for instance.

I noticed this yesturday too. Air Force and fleet leader now having medals is a big change, and Wolfpack having a medal is nice for naval invasions.

Thanks for pointing it out, I only read the update notes... and that's why Nimitz (had ace medal) was surprisingly good in the rescue the ally event:)
I appreciate the boost for navy and especially air generals

Rather I would give Yamamoto rumor and fleet leader, making him a non-IAP Eisenhower but better

With Donitz, Nimitz and the new free Navy Commander now, I dont really need Yamamoto on an AC, due to having finished the game. If needed, I would use him on a Super AC when possible, and if Donitz can't handle it, which I doubt. I now mostly use Yamamoto on Artillery to capture, hold cities and launch air and missile strikes, softening up enemy ground/naval forces, before attacking and to finish off or parasnipe. Since employing him in this manner, with Economy skill and related medal, Air badges, IAP Imperial Eagle air medal, I've noticed a bigger advantage. I mean, I could use him on a ship, but he's not needed since he is like Arnold/Dowding and Nimitz combined ...but with a few stars in Artillery and explosives/rumor skills. Should I ever discover a Naval battle that my other 3 Naval officers can't handle, then I'll consider switching Yamamoto's skills to focus on Naval warfare, optimizing medal perks when possible. Until then, Yamamoto will be geared towards Air Power projection in Artillery. Thanks for sharing other ways Yamamoto is used.
P.S. I don't have Arnold or Dowding but would consider picking up an Air Commander should a change be deemed necessary and Yamamoto needed at sea. I had switched his Cover skill, which also helped as Arty Gen., to Edonomy for strict land use. But, i acn do as you suggest for strict Navy, and switch his Economy for Aces. This along with his base carpet, explosives , air leader would benefit from this Aces medal, Excellence and Imperial Eagle air medal. Maybe even switch out rumor for Fleet, but this would limit his Land use versatlity.

I would recommend you to get Dowding and switch out Yamamoto’s economical expert for fleet or industrial expert while keeping rumor, but I favor fleet leader more than industrial expert because you don’t really burn industry as much like economy, and by having fleet leader you can dismiss Nimitz to extract medals for other purposes (Raeder would be the choice if you need a 4th naval general again).

I actually been considering the same thing. 😆. Switching Economy for Industry since i first posted this thread on the 20th of November... and use the industry medal to boost both Carpet bombing and Industrial Expert. Still haven't done so. Missiles use lots of industry, so that would help there also. I have the Aces Medal on Yamamoto and am also considering switching Rumor out for Aces Skill. What are you thoughts on that? 2 Medals, Aces and industrial expert, would boost 4 skills... and 3rd medal slot is for my Imperial Eagle Air Medal. I have NIMitZ, with Ace medal also...But Air leader and explosives in his 2 slots.
As far as Dowding, ive been considering adding him again, for his Economy, or Arnold with Industry because he also has Carpet bombing. Undecided as far as these two but, will be rewiring Yamamoto as soon as i figure who will take up the slack in res production. Thanks for sharing your pov.

Industrial expert and ace force can’t coexist on Yamamoto, you can only choose one.
