Also bought mounted archer, I think I got a couple items as well but don't remember, but the archer was the big one. Next I want either cavalry or artillery

I think the go-to way of spending them is:
1. units if you’ve got a good general for them.
2. gear
3. Magatama
And never ever spend them on anything else.

These units are in the IAP shop for a reason. Some of them will become even stronger as we progress. My theory is that units will have 4 levels of skills green/blue/purple/gold. Just imagine how powerful mounted Archers or DoP will be. I am planning to buy all of them. Luckily enough we have other means of farming fragments of generals we like and planning to use. I deeply don't trust RNG to allow it to form my team  |

Some equipment to accomplish (2) set bonus and horses for more mobility in the 100-250 range as well as mounted archer.

doesnt seem wise to buy magma when the gens arent fully released? One can argue the opposite right? It is easier to upgrade generals as it is. In EW7 due to high numbers I still have very few fully upgraded units. And in EW7 we could just dismantle unit fragments. Here you have to max them before you can earn broken blade? So if they double or triple the number of generals it may be almost impossible to 6-star the ones you aim for. |

Given the system, it doesn't look like we will necessarily be unlocking ever more powerful generals as the game progresses. I do have a sneaking suspicion that EasyTech expects us to go through A LOT of Magatama, but right now we have access to a number of very good generals in a smaller draw pool. Even so, my opinion is that Elite Troops for your strongest general is probably the most game-changing purchase, and that the Elite Troops will be vital to build your strongest team. Discounted EQ is also a worthwhile purchase. |

I think I see why others argue that special troops are worth it.
I'm just used to going all-out for equipment to strengthen existing gens.
I have two sets (the 2-equipment set and the Tenkabito set, I think).

You should buy all +3 horses and two healing items (+40 and +50) ASAP. This will make conquests and missions easier. Then buy all special units, then war gear, and then magatama (or save?) 🙂
And try to get Otomo Sorin, he is my 1st general in conquests.
