Maeda is probably the Best f2p cav general we have right now due to his high ranking although in future other purple generals may replace him as we rank them. But so far he is the highest ranking cavalry officer for me and yet I am having trouble on equipping him. I see Matsukaze is his horse with special skill upgrades. What else is there? If nothing then what do you prefer? Any +cavalry mastery or isolated combat items you are aware of? Thanks in advance.

Tonbokiri and Red Lacquer armor seems to boost cavalry mastery and fanatic skills in additionally to crit chance+cavalry damage bonuses.

This is mine... Akazone Cavalry, two items of Tiger of Kai, a golden healing scroll and a decent purple armor Thats a solid one indeed but I put all crit items on teppo generals due to them being core of my setup and hitting multiple times (yoshihisa and suzuki). I dont really use cavalry so I thought if only Maeda is going to be there so I should max out his skills. So far I am inclined to Tonbokiri+Red Lacquer+Matsukaze. My golden healing item is on Mori but once he is r6 then I can switch that as well. Thank you for the lead, please welcome to suggest anything. I keep looking 🙂

I am using him with Kai sword and mount, other than that I hope to use red laquer armour and a healing book though it takes a while.

I keep looking 🙂 I don't think it really makes sense to base your lineup around one unit type and ignore others. You use your best generals on the types they're best on. Keiji can definitely be one of your best generals, he's a very strong damage dealer, has a great active skill, and once you unlock Akazonae cavalry (or Hatamoto) can also get multiple attacks. Like others here, I've given him the sword and horse from Tiger of Kai for maximum crits. He also has two items from Tenka Fubu but that's probably temporary (haven't wholly determined who gets what yet, or unlocked everything I want).

I had Suzuki and Yoshihisa 3* quite early and they pulled everything off for me 😅 Now they are 4* but starting to lack behind. So I was looking for other leads. Maeda for cavalry and Yoshihiro for infantry become very potent. I agree with crit items thats obvious no argument. But I was also trying to find specific items which boost the skills of Maeda.

I am ashamed to admit that I have 3 items of Niten Ichi-ryu on my Maeda Keiji (because I have nowhere else to dump the item set since I have all of Tenkabito set). I myself do not fancy Kamiizumi Nobutsuna in anyway but might consider dropping set on Kuroda Kanbee.

I see a competitor in Honda Tadakatsu but no one has successfully gotten him, right?

Wdym successfully, also should we care about shibata if we got honda and maeda It would be good if one can pack his Tenkabito cav units with the best, IMO. Since Keiji is a purple gen we can get from the starting roll, he has a head start. Plus, I've never been able to have enough pieces for his competitors, so building up the one you have and whose fragments are rolled easily (Keiji for me) is ideal. My Keiji build. I pushed the weapon because the skill boost is relevant to Keiji. Might consider changing because the Ikki-Uchi up from the horse will not benefit him. Apparently, even with the lvl 1 accessory, he is suitable to be a clan guardian in Conquest. Gave him Horoshu because he's my best.

I see a competitor in Honda Tadakatsu but no one has successfully gotten him, right? I've got Honda at 2 stars and and Maeda at 3 stars (soon to be 4), so I think I can make a decent comparison. Their valor is pretty comparable for their levels, but the extra sets of Maeda we get has obviously pushed him further along than Honda. Honda's special unit is Hatamoto, which is locked along with Usagi, who also uses Hatamoto, while Horoshu is pretty easy to unlock. Their passive skills seem very similar in usefulness to me, perhaps someone with more analytics might make some distinctions though. Honda does have his own 2 piece set, but the second item is broken blade locked, the rarest currency so far, and only advances Ikki-Uchi, his most useless skill. The big difference I see is in their active skills, because the push-back function of Honda's skill is frankly a pain. Maeda not only has a chance to wound generals, and a shorter cool-down, but you can reliably use Skill first and Attack second, sometimes eliminating an enemy without taking any damage. Honda on the other hand punts his enemies out of attack range, so you have to finesse the situation a bit more. I also have Yamanaka at 3 stars (useful to grind silk cloth), and he moves far and hits hard on his Elite Cavalry. His valor is not as good though, and his Active is trash, but between the 3 of them I feel pretty solid for Cavalry generals. My first pick still has to be Maeda Keiji though, he really is excellent.
