After considering that the Naval Assault only works for naval attacks, and activates in counter attack, making it passive/active and offensive, according to resiphius, Ive concluded Yamaguchi is ideal for an elite carrier which would allow for this Naval Assault skill to not be wasted, due to its +2 range. Sailor and carpet bombing are the skills one could use for him on the Enterprise/Akagi...and his air (and early warning), would keep him safe as ASW (anti-sub warf.) from subs. I admit that the Naval Assault skill would have been great on a pure Navy skipper like Raeder or Donitz though. Too bad Yamaguchi has Air fleet skill, though both work on an Elite carrier which is good. I was considering dropping Helfrich for him...or Mikawa, but i have Yamamoto and Nimitz. 🤔 Looks like i will wait yet again for new generals in the updates and put ...trading Wainwright, Schmidhuber, and for Arnold (who would do well on Hind/typhoon) and Helfrich for another Navy commander on backburner for now. Upgrading new generals is a slow process, so i dont want to get caught in the middle. Arnold for Schmidhuber and Wainwright seems like a safe bet though. Any other overlooked thoughts on this topic? Putting Yamaguchi on a non-cruiser (or elite equivalent) is a complete waste of his unique (for f2p) skill that allows him to do >100 more damage than his immediate comparisons, Donitz and Raeder. Deploying him on a carrier takes advantage of one skill which is not unique, leader, requires buying his sixth AF star, and costs significantly more than throwing Arnold or Chennault on one for almost exactly the same output.

And ...that Air Leader skill is why I will let Yamaguchi stay off of my Roster for now. Yamaguchi is a 10k medal investment. I dont need him like that. That Naval Assault skill belongs on somebody like Naval Officer William Chin Lee, the Battleship Sniper.
