Has anyone managed this? I can’t get troops across the channel in time to prevent the cities falling.

Finally got there after many attempts. Got Saladin over to Northern city just in time and used his skill to get French general out of the way. No idea how you would do it without iap.

Have you tried using Yelu Dashi? If any F2P is to have a chance, a similar substitute would be great. (Even though we're crippled because his unique equipment is locked behind a paywall.)

Giovanni and some Calmness general(s) help you cross the channel faster and additionally Baldwin and Yelu Dashi help if you want your special guest to participate in the fight for the northern target city. In my case the pre-spawned troops were enough (MatildaB, Gio, Cnut and Subu) to take the empty city at turn 4.
