It's really down to personal preference, which one does the subject matter attract you? Personally, my favorite is probably GCR.

EW5, EW4, EW6: 1804 and 1914, GOG3 and GC:R have defined ends, technically speaking and Cloud save. EW5 feels quite friendly, except the post-endgame stuff. However, it is one of the easiest to farm medals even on the go. GOG3 is also not very hard, but is more strict and punishing. Besides the Crimean War series, EW6 is easy to finish with a perfect clear. I don't like ET's Challenge content in general, barring the campaign version. History Missions mirror in implementation to Challenge content (enemy levels are higher, with a lot more advamtages, etc.). History clears are not saved, a few campaigns are extremely difficult to perfectly clear, but still not too hard to beat excepting Challenge Conquest, the few Challenge campaigns and maybe History missions. EW4 lacks cloud save.
EW7 is fun and intriguing, but there is a wide gap between newcomers and endgame players, even more so when IAP vs F2P players are factored in. There are content updates, but nothing really inspiring. Very grindy to be honest, but thankfully, I didn't aim to rush to complete so I didn't grind as much. However, you can see the grind needed if you want all F2P stuff.

Which?I'm playing WC4 right now I actually don't advise to play any other ET games while playing WC4. My painful experience tells me that it is very difficult to succeed at both. I only do this when there's nothing to do at the moment in one of these games except for farming. Yet, if it is your decision to do this, try GOG3 it is a relatively easy game and made in the same setting as WC4.

Honestly, it's up to you and really dependent on what time period you like the most, whether you want an easier or harder time, etc. Given you're playing WC4, I'd probably recommend GOG3 as for the same things stoic said, it's WWII based and a pretty easy game - if I can beat it, anyone can! But again, the mechanics of each ET game is ever so slightly different that if you concurrently play them, you can mix things up. I know when I decided to concurrently start a reset of WC3 while I was playing GOG3 I kept thinking the battalion artillery in the former had a range of 2 hexes when really it has one; in GOG3, the regular artillery which looks very similar to battalion arty in WC3 has a 2 hex range. WC3 is pretty unforgiving on mistakes and really annoying to farm medals in for late game stuff. It's very close to my heart but I probably wouldn't recommend it. EW4 has no cloud save but is F2P friendly. Unfortunately it also can be a bit grindy for the F2P player, and it's most likely not getting any content anytime soon. EW5 is annoying. I love it, but it's annoying. Literature farming was one of my least favorite memories and it transformed into medal farming due to all the endgame stuff that the game throws at you. EW7 is a fun game, but like others said completion is a more difficult and time consuming endeavor. Honestly the one I can talk the most about is GC2:Shogun (especially given by my posts on this forum, you'd probably guess that is the only ET game I play), but if you're not into the Sengoku period of Japan then it probably isn't the right game for you. Of course you could use the game to spark an interest into that time period, but it's a pretty niche interest and honestly, I wouldn't blame you if that wasn't your choice.
