My units are all 8-11. Upgrading the elite units of my best generals becomes pretty expensive. To decide if I better save upgrade items for the best or invest in a few regular units for spamming I need to know where the maximum is. Can anyone help who reached the maximum unit level?

If I denote by tier X that the minimum city level required to train this unit is X, then currently tier 1 units are capped at lvl 13, tier 2 at lvl 12 and tier 3 at lvl 11. Note that in future updates, when more campaigns get released, this max level can go up further.

No, the numbers I gave you are levels in the upgrade panel, in actual battle this can be different depending on the mode. For example in conquest normal they start with lvl 1, but in challenge conquest they start with your unit level. And this you can increase while you play the conquest, e.g. via owning certain Kami or Prestige boost. There it is quite common to train lvl 18 or 19 troops.
As for your other question, as far as I know generals dont matter. The level is a property of the unit itself, not the general.

The point is that, yari samurai is considered a "tier 3" unit since you have to upgrade a city to level 3 to build it. Currently, the max upgrade level for "tier 3" units is level 11. So you can upgrade yari samurai to level 11 (the answer to your original question), but then bonuses in conquest may allow you to recruit an even higher level. Same logic applies to deploying generals - by default, they deploy with the level you've upgraded to, bonuses may apply. Most/all special units are tier 2/3, so the upgrade level caps at 11 or 12. |
